Tutorial 10: Updating your downloadable map

This tutorial will take you through the steps of updating your old map file to our newest map veresion.

  1. Turn off all programs; especially any programs used with your map file.
  2. Login to the MyMaps Area of HuntingGPSmaps.com using your email address and password that was emailed to you after purchase.
  3. Once logged in, Click on the Download Product Button.  Save the map installation file (.EXE) somewhere on your computer that is easy to access – your computer’s desktop is suggested.
  4. Once the download is complete you need to Run the .exe file that you downloaded to install the map.  Browse to the location you saved this file in and double click it to Run it. (NOTE: There is no reason to generate a new unlock code for the updated version of your map. Only one unlock code is needed per GPS per State Map; even updated versions of the map.)
  5. Begin walking through the installation process choosing to save the map file in the defaulted location. At this time, your computer will recognize that this map file is already saved on your computer. Click the OK button to beginning the process of replacing the old map file with the new one. Next, click Uninstall to uninstall the old map file. Finally, click Close to start installing the new map file.
  6. After the installation has finished, you can now open MapSource/BaseCamp to view the new map file on your computer.
  7. SKIP this step IF you've purchased the preloaded SD card for your GPS OR you have a trial version of the download. If you are a downloadable map customer, you must replace your old map file on your GPS with the new one. Simply transfer the new map file as you did originally and the old map file will be replaced automatically. (NOTE: You should save the new map file to the same ‘Device’ – aka memory source – that your old map file is currently saved. Please look under ‘Uploading the map to your Garmin GPS’ within your respective Tutorial 1 or 1M for directions on transferring the map to your GPS.)
