If you have used the download function for several states from us, you most likely have put them onto your GPS's hard drive. This tutorial will show you how to show and hide these maps on your GPS quickly and easily.
This tutorial covers older and newer GPS receivers:
- Changing Maps on your Colorado, Oregon or Dakota series GPS
- Changing Maps on your GPSMap 60Cx, 60CSx, 76Cx, 76CSx, eTrex, Rino, or Similar Series GPS
Changing Maps on your Colorado, Oregon or Dakota series GPS
If you have a Colorado, Oregon or Dakota series GPS reciever, this section will outline the procedure to change which maps are displayed on the map viewing screen.
1. In the Main Menu screen, select "Setup" as shown:
2. Then select "Map":
3. Then select "Map Information Select Map":
4. A menu with the mapsets you have loaded on your GPS will be shown (see screenshot below)
In this example, we have Topo U.S. 100k Disabled and the mapset for the Wyoming SD Card Enabled.
5. Select the map name that you wish to change to either Enable or Disable the map.
6. At this point, you can choose each map you want to be enabled or disabled. To see the map viewing screen, back out to the main menu and click "Map."
Changing Maps on your GPSMap 60Cx, 60CSx, 76Cx, 76CSx, eTrex, Rino, or Similar Series GPS
If you have a GPSMap, eTrex or Rino series GPS reciever, this section will outline the procedure to change which maps are displayed on the map viewing screen.
1. Go to the GPS main setup menu and select the 'MAP' menu icon. (You may also go the the map screen and use the Pan the map and zoom in until you can see the maps you would like to enable or disable).
2. Press the "Menu" button on your GPS and then select "Setup Map":
3. Go to the "Map Setup - Information" section of this menu by scrolling left or right to the circle icon with the 'i'. You can now enable or disable specific areas of the map by unchecking the box next to each map area. (This is for advanced users and is not recommended - proceed to next step to turn off entire map):
4. In order to enable/disable the entire map, click the menu button on your GPS while in 'Map Setup - Information'. A menu window will pop-up as seen below:
5. Here, you can click "Hide [Map]" to hide the map you want or choose "Show All" or "Show None" to display or hide all map layers respectively.
6. Hit the "Quit" button until you are able to return to the map viewing screen.
